I never read the books but I loved the TV series -- if it was based on this book! And, I didn't realize it was written so long ago by Erik Knight. Lassie will always remain America's favorite dog -- even though he was Scottish. My favorite books/series was Pippi Longstocking and her adventures with the neighbor children.
