ABOUT THE BOOK:

Landry Hutton has spent three years rebuilding her life behind the secure gates of The Haven, an exclusive resort on the outskirts of Gossamer Falls, North Carolina. After serving as the artist-in-residence, Landry is finally ready to settle in permanently to give her daughter, Eliza, a safe home in which to grow up.

Former Marine Callum Shaw always knew he would someday join his family's construction business in Gossamer Falls. He longs for a family of his own but has almost given up on that ever happening. The beautiful artist who has hired him to build her new house is funny, gifted, and everything Cal could ever want in a partner, but he vows to keep his distance. He's loved--and lost--someone like her before.

When Landry's pottery is destroyed in a suspicious fire, it becomes clear that Landry and Eliza are in grave danger--but from whom? Cal will have to risk his heart again if he has any hope of protecting them.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Lynn H. Blackburn is the award-winning author of Unknown Threat, Malicious Intent, and Under Fire, as well as the Dive Team Investigations series. She loves writing swoon-worthy Southern suspense because her childhood fantasy was to become a spy, but her grown-up reality is that she's a huge chicken and would have been caught on her first mission. She prefers to live vicariously through her characters by putting them into terrifying situations while she sits at home in her pajamas. She lives in Simpsonville, South Carolina, with her true love, Brian, and their three children. Learn more at www.LynnHBlackburn.com

MY REVIEW:

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

A unique story filled with romance, mystery, and the maze of the intricacies of relationships . . .

The author has created a strong community of family and friends as she kicks off her new series, Gossamer Falls. Readers are treated to the many complexities that come with an age-old family feud, a tight-knit family's everyday lives, and a mystery that affects everyone in the small North Carolina town and the nearby resort known as The Haven.

Landry Hutton has a secretive past which she wants to keep to herself when she and her young daughter, Eliza, move to The Haven. She is a well-respected pottery artist who finally feels at peace in her cozy home on the grounds of The Haven where she and Eliza have lived for three years.

Callum Shaw, the youngest of three brothers, is a former Marine who works in the successful family construction business. He harbors past traumas that he would rather avoid than deal with openly. He is witty, courageous, and artistically talented.

Strange acts of vandalism—or are they tragic accidents—begin to occur around Landry and The Haven. Callum, Landry, other members of the Shaw family, and the community work together to figure out who is committing these acts of violence.

One of my favorite characters in this story is a canine named Maisy. This golden retriever is not only a comfort dog and friend to all, she is instrumental in literally saving the day on several occasions. Two adorable young girls—Eliza Hutton and Abby Shaw—add joy, energy, and whimsy to the story which breaks the tension caused by the ongoing mystery.

There is a strong faith thread woven throughout this story, and the story is completely clean in content and language.

The best-laid plans may go awry, but the best-laid clues could frame a man for murder . . . Never one to let a day off work go to waste, café owner Gia Morelli and a friend head out for a blissful kayaking trip through the local national forest. But the peacefulness of the day is soon shattered when they come across Cole, her head cook, standing over a dead body.

Worse still, the victim was a lifelong enemy of Cole’s, and clues found on the body point to the cook as the culprit. When the police take Cole in and subject him to an intense grilling, Gia vows to do everything she can to prove his innocence.

As even more incriminating evidence surfaces—including when the murder weapon itself is found hidden at the café—Gia knows she’s up against someone brutal enough to kill and devious enough to frame Cole for the deed. With the police ready to make an official arrest and wrap up what they consider an open-and-shut case, Gia turns for help to an old friend who’s not above breaking the law himself. Because if she can’t find the killer, Cole may go from serving up hot dishes to serving a life sentence . . .

'A Few Fun Facts' shared by Author Lena Gregory

1. My husband and I moved from the south shore of eastern Long Island to warm, sunny Central Florida almost five years ago with our three amazing kids, (ages thirty-three, twenty-five and thirteen) son-in-law, and four dogs. I am extremely family oriented. I enjoy nothing more than spending time with my husband and kids.

2. I am a master at procrastination. I don’t have a lot of writing time, but sometimes, when I do sit down to write, I just can’t seem to get going. So I tell myself there are important things I have to do before I can start writing. The first of those is usually Facebook, because there might be something interesting I “need” to know. I love to chat with readers and other authors, so I often hang out there for a bit. Then I check all of my emails, because, you know, something really important that wasn’t there five minutes ago, might be there now. And then I head for twitter. By the time I finish all of that, I’m usually hungry so, I grab a snack, then finally sit down to get started.

3. I am addicted to Diet Pepsi and chocolate!

4. I am painfully shy. As much as I love socializing and even meeting new people, I do much better one on one than I do in a group.

5. I love ice cream! It is my all-time favorite dessert, and it features in my Coffee & Cream Café Mysteries.

6. I worked the breakfast shift at my grandfather’s deli, as well as at Friendly’s, which led to the creation of the All-Day Breakfast Café Mysteries.

7. I am very high strung and rarely relax. I go from the time I get up around 7:30 am until the time I go to bed, anywhere between 1:30 and 3:00 am. I talk fast, I move fast, and I always have a list a mile long of things I have to get finished in a day. Of course, I usually forget or misplace the list, so it doesn’t always help much.

I’d love for you to leave a comment below sharing some things people don’t know about you and telling me if you share any of my interests!
