He can’t buy his way out of trouble this time…

Housekeeper-slash-entrepreneur Ella Bradley prides herself on being ready for anything. After all, with a father who died—and lied to her—and a stepmom and stepsister who despise her, she has no one else to depend on. But on the biggest night of her life, she’s unprepared to be trapped in an elevator with the man of her dreams.

Wealthy prince-to-a-fortune Adrian Vassos wants nothing more than to shed his reputation as a party boy and prove that he is a savvy businessman. Even, a gentleman. But when he’s trapped with a woman who knows his reputation but not his face, he gives into the temptation to be someone else—and lies.

When serendipity brings them together again—this time to work off community service—can their combined sentences spark a new ending? Maybe…if Adrian’s lies don’t find him out. Again.

The magic of Deep Haven enchants in this modern-day Cinderella story.

EXCERPT:

If these donuts did the trick, Adrian owed Lucy Brewster down at World’s Best Donuts a bouquet of flowers. He whistled as he strode into the municipal building, his arms loaded with baked goods and his laptop bag across his chest. He’d picked up enough pastries for the group he was meeting with this afternoon. At least he hoped he’d bought enough. Lucy had said there were usually four to seven people at the meeting. He figured a dozen of their finest glazed raised donuts should be plenty.

Along the hall hung a photo gallery of the town’s officials. His gaze snagged on a picture of Sheriff Hueston, and for a moment he was right back outside Ella’s old house last night, under the moonlight. He grinned as he thought about their evening. Getting in trouble had never been so much fun. He hoped Ella had gotten enough of her stuff.

Adrian dropped a donut off with the administrative assistant who, blushing, pointed him in the direction of the conference room. He entered the room she’d indicated and stopped short. The bland, off-white room held an oval table, several rolling chairs, and a small group of people deep in discussion.

“I guess I’m a little late.” He checked his watch. “Is this the planning commission?”

A hulking man wearing a blue Deep Haven Fire Department shirt rose from the head of the table. Long brown hair with a dark beard, and he looked like he could snap a tree in

half with his bare hands. “Not late at all. Come on in. We just had some other business to

attend to, so we decided to meet early. I’m Peter Dahlquist. You must be Adrian?”

“Hi. Yes. Nice to meet you.” Adrian set the donuts on the table and shook hands with the remaining members of the board. “I brought donuts.”

An older woman who had introduced herself as Ingrid Christiansen reached for one. “I never pass up a donut.”

“If we can’t have your cookies, Ingrid, we’ll have to settle for World’s Best, I suppose.”

Nathan Decker helped himself.

“Ingrid Christiansen? Any relation to Darek up at Evergreen?”

“You might say so. He’s my oldest son.” Her eyes gentled. “My husband and I used to run the resort, but now Darek handles most of the business.”

Adrian winked at her. “As a fellow resort owner, I can tell you he’s doing a fine job.

The property is well maintained, and my cabin is very comfortable.” “Thank you. It means a lot to me to hear that.”

Peter spoke up. “Now, Adrian, why don’t you tell us about these plans of yours.”
