Join the designer to stitch up this country-style, bright, blooming
sunflower wall quilt. It will be a cheerful decoration in your home or
on your porch each year in the late summer and autumn.
To make this pattern user-friendly for seamstresses around the world, the pattern includes the measurements in Imperial and Metric. Detailed cutting and sewing instructions are provided for this project.
This lovely and elegant wall hanging features glass beads, velvet ribbon, buttons, satin ribbon, grosgrain ribbon, and decorative multi-color machine quilting thread in addition to good quality fabrics. The space above the beads gives you a place to hand-embroider or machine-embroider your family's name or 'Welcome', 'Greetings', 'Autumn', 'Fall', 'Sunflower', 'Garden', or another motif of your choice. You can also sew a row of pretty buttons in autumn colors of even your extra beads from the project across this space.
The wall hanging measures 12 1/2" by 14 1/2" and has three grosgrain ribbon loops across the top edge to use for displaying the picture. Each loop has a gold glass bead for accent. One of the unique techniques featured in this design is the use of satin ribbon for binding on the four edges of the wall hanging. Velvet green ribbon makes up the stem and leaves for the sunflower in the center block of the picture. The leaves are embellished with green glass beads. The center of the sunflower is a circle hand-embroidered using the stem stitch (the circle can also be stitched on sewing machine) that is filled with a variety of shapes of black glass beads. The sunflower itself is made of two rows of yellow glass beads sewn around the outer edge of the black center. The ribbon stem and leaves and all beads and buttons were applied using fine hand-sewing techniques.
