Coffee shop owner Zach Garrett has found his niche after a traumatic loss--and he has no plans to change the life he's created. Nor does he want to get involved with his reticent new neighbor, whose past is shrouded in mystery. But when Katherine and Zach are recruited to help rehab a home for foster children, sparks fly. As their lives begin to intersect, might they find more common ground than they expected . . . and discover that, with love, all things are possible?

REVIEW:

A delightful read filled with loss, yearning, and love . . .

This is the second book in the 'Hope Harbor' series I have had the pleasure of reading. 'Blackberry Beach' is a fine standalone story set in the amazing small Oregon coastal town of Hope Harbor. Once you read this book, you will know why I call this town amazing.

Zach Garrett is an Atlanta, Georgia, transplant to the West Coast. He owns the local coffee shop, The Perfect Blend. A mysterious woman whom known only as Kat is renting the home next to his on the hillside above the magnificent Blackberry Beach.

As the story progresses, we learn the history behind what brought Zach to the Oregon coast and what he is searching for in his life. He is a man who longs to repair a damaged relationship from his past, but who does not know how to go about solving the issues which has caused the rift. Zach was my favorite character simply because he was a realistically-portrayed man with flaws and pain and dreams and a slightly-neglected faith in God.

Kat is a woman of contradictions who is dealing with her own immense trauma and tragedy from her past. She is searching for answers to her troubles and for someone to trust.

Through the meandering story, which involves a couple of inspiring sub-plots, I found myself cheering on Zach and Kat in their quest to overcome the challenges they are facing as individuals. Their support and encouragement of each other is admirable.

The faith thread is tightly woven throughout the story. The local pastor, Reverend Baker, counsels the characters, and I found his words of faith to be inspiring and relevant.

This book is completely clean in language and content.

Highly-recommended for fans of Christian/clean romance, Christian/clean small-town romance, and Christian/clean fiction.

I received a paperback copy of this book from the publisher through the Revell Reads Blogger Program. My thoughts and opinions expressed here are solely my own.
