Erma wheeled herself from behind the counter, trying not to knock down a display of knitting needles with her outstretched, plaster-covered leg. She was proud that her little store, Knots and Tangles, was one of the original businesses in Maple Falls and at one time had the most yarn and fiber art supplies within a one-hundred-fifty-mile radius. Her mother owned the shop before Erma, and her grandmother had started the business. A woman entrepreneur was almost unheard of back then. Erma had worked here since she was twelve, and very little of the shop had changed since then. The place was full to the brim, and that was the way she liked it.

'Hooked on You' is the first installment in the Maple Run Series by best-selling author, Kathleen Fuller. This contemporary romance is set in a small Arkansas town filled with quirky and lovable, for the most part, characters.
Twenty-eight-year old New York artist, Riley McAllister, is called home by her grandmother, Mimi, who is known as Erma to everyone else. The way in which Erma became injured made me laugh.
When Riley arrives in town she finds that her Mimi's home along with her downtown yarn shop, 'Knots and Tangles', are unkempt and in need of major repairs and a thorough decluttering. Mimi is resistant to change, so convincing her to go through with the rehabs is a challenge.
The town's golden boy, Hayden Price, is willing to jump in to help Riley and Mimi accomplish their goals. In the meantime, he falls for Riley. However, romancing the troubled artist is not as easy as he expects it to be. I found Hayden to be a genuine good guy in so many ways.
Riley has deep-seated issues stemming from the neglect and dysfunction she suffered in her early childhood and into her teen years. She harbors deep resentment toward her mother, and because of this she isolates herself from others. These issues also cause her to lash out at the people closest to her--Mimi and eventually, Hayden.
As I read this book I realized how much I missed the faith thread that I have come to expect from this publisher. The book was clean and sweet as promised in the book blurb; however, I felt there was more emphasis placed on the physical aspects of the main couple's attraction toward each other than usual for this genre.
With the help of her loving grandmother, a compassionate group of her grandmother's friends nicknamed the 'Bosom Buddies', a trio of new friends her own age, and Hayden, Riley is able to slowly able to heal some of her wounds.
