REVIEW:
A complex, riveting plot with memorable characters and settings . . .
This book kicks off the author's new Christian romantic suspense series, Extreme Measures. Penny Carlton is an EMS pilot who relies on her intelligence, experience, and strength under pressure to accomplish the impossible during emergencies.
This story begins with a tense emergency situation, and Penny Carlton deftly takes charge. With her quick-thinking and determination, Penny gains the upper hand and saves the lives of several individuals.
Her love interest, FBI Special Agent, Holton--Holt--Satterfield, is swiftly pulled into the case and he and Penny are a force to be reckoned with as they put clues together and eventually build a case against one of the most despicable, distasteful villains I have ever seen in a book.
I enjoyed watching Penny's team of close-knit women friends support and encourage each other throughout the story. With their shared troubled histories back from when they were teens, these women are unbelievably loyal to each other and resourceful when it comes to getting things done. I hope that each of these women become main characters in the upcoming books of this series.
There were some disturbing scenes of violence and graphic descriptions of the evil perpetrated by the villains in this story. The images conjured up by those scenes are best forgotten in light of the powerful plot and sub-plots woven into the story. Otherwise, the book is completely clean in language and content.
The faith thread consists of prayers spoken during times of crisis and some discussion between the lead characters about their beliefs.
I received a paperback copy of this book from the publisher the Revell Reads Blogger Program. All of my opinions and thoughts expressed here are solely my own.
