ABOUT THE BOOK:

"Romantic suspense fans will not want to miss this."--Lisa Harris, bestselling author of the Nikki Boyd Files

In 1964, a group of scientists called the Los Alamos Five came close to finishing a nuclear energy project for the United States government when they were abruptly disbanded. Now the granddaughter of one of those scientists, aerospace engineer Elinor Mitchell, discovers that she has highly sensitive information on the project in her possession--and a target on her back.

SNAP agent and former Navy cryptologist Kekoa Young is tasked with monitoring Elinor. This is both convenient since she's his neighbor in Washington, DC, and decidedly inconvenient because . . . well, he kind of likes her.

As Elinor follows the clues her grandfather left behind to a top-secret nuclear project, Kekoa has no choice but to step in. And with danger closing in on all sides, Elinor will have to trust the man who has been spying on her to ensure her discoveries stay out of enemy hands--and she stays alive.

  MY REVIEW:

A complicated, high-tech romantic suspense story . . .

This is the first novel I have read by this author. Although I did not read Book One in 'The SNAP Agency' series, I did not feel out of sync with the characters or their jobs because the author introduces the needed background information at appropriate times.

The male lead, Kekoa Young, is a former member of the US Navy who is now a brilliant cryptologist for SNAP. The female lead, Elinor Mitchell, is an aerospace engineer whose grandfather was one of the Los Alamos Five in 1964.

Their paths cross when the SNAP agency is asked to investigate Mitchell's possible involvement in some unethical behavior involving leaking and/or selling her designs to outside parties. Coincidentally, Kekoa and Elinor are next-door neighbors in their condo building.

Readers learn about the admirable depth of Kekoa's ethics when he is asked to keep an eye on Elinor by his employer, SNAP. Circumstances lead to Kekoa and Elinor sharing time together which leads to a bond of two damaged, grieving souls.

There are many humorous moments throughout this book which involve Elinor's love of chemistry and math. Kekoa is a wonderful companion and does everything he possibly can to keep Elinor safe from whoever is preying upon her.

There are many villains in this story, so readers are kept on their toes from start to finish—the hallmark of a great suspense story!

The inclusion of diverse characters such as Kekoa, Elinor, and Garcia added cultural interest to the plot and enriched the story in my opinion.

Healing, friendship, faith, and family are the main themes of this moving story. There were several touching scenes toward the end of the book that led me to tears. The book is completely clean in language and content.
