About the Book

A Christmas homecoming
Will bring shocking revelations to light…
Returning to Legacy Ranch with his two young daughters, widowed youth pastor Jonathon Bauer is delighted to find his first love, Meredith Hunt, is one of the owners. When Jonathon and Meredith are thrown together to oversee the annual Christmas Under the Stars event at the ranch, past affections stir between them. But Meredith has been keeping a secret since they were teens—one that she must reveal if she and Jonathon are ever to have a future together. Will the truth tear them apart…or give them everything they’ve always dreamed of?EXCERPT:
“I’m failing my children.” Jonathon sounded downright defeated.
Meredith ignored the sudden urge to comfort him. “Aw, don’t be so hard on yourself. I’m sure every parent has felt that way at some point.”
“Caroline’s teacher called me.”He rubbed the back of his neck. “Seems she did some evaluations on Caroline to determine where she was with her schooling.”
“That’s understandable.”
“Caroline failed everything except reading.”
“Oh.” Meredith hoped her cringe wasn’t noticeable. “I see.”
He began pacing the empty space, his distress almost palpable. “What kind of father does that make me? I wasn’t even aware.”
Lord, give me the right words to encourage him.
She moved to join him. “Did her previous teacher ever mention anything?”
“No.” Slowly shaking his head, he added, “Her first report card showed passing grades.”
Watching him, seeing the pain etched in his features, she wished she could ease his distress.
He looked her way. “Which is why I’m here. Tessa said you tutor kids.”
“Yes, I’ve helped some of her students in the past.”
Two steps later, he was standing in front of her, those blue eyes boring into hers. “Meredith, will you tutor Caroline? She already knows you and is comfortable with you. And I trust you. Please? I’ll pay you whatever you want.”
She swallowed the sudden lump in her throat. She’d never seen a parent so impassioned. Jonathon’s commitment to his girls was more than admirable. It was downright attractive. And had Meredith struggling to keep her composure.
A meaningful story featuring the powerful themes of grief, regret, long-held secrets, and redemption . . .
Youth pastor Jonathon Bauer returns to his hometown after many years with his grieving young daughters to begin working at the town's church. It's been a tumultuous two years since his young wife died unexpectedly when their girls were just two and five years old.
Attorney, Meredith Hunt, is living on Legacy Ranch in the small Texas community with her sisters, their families, and their aunt. They have worked together as a team to make their aunt's inspiring vision for the ranch to become a reality.
Jonathon and Meredith haven't seen each other in twenty-one years, and the lingering romantic feelings they once shared have resulted in an awkward mix of anxiety and curiosity when they are around each other again.
Follow the Bauer family as their relationships with the lovely, caring, nurturing woman who also lost her mother at a young age blossom over a short period of time.
When Meredith gains the courage to share a never-told event in her life with Jonathon, their relationship takes a steep tumble into darkness. With the Lord's wisdom and guidance and forgiveness, the couple finds their way back to a place where they can envision a brighter future.
This book has a strong faith thread which I found very inspiring. The book is completely clean in language and content.
I received a copy of this book from the author as a member of her launch team. All of my thoughts and opinions shared here are solely my own.
