share with us what types of research you performed regarding equine care and
horse rescue organizations/facilities as you wrote or prepared to write this
novel:
FROM THE AUTHOR: While I have always loved horses and have owned quite a few in my life,
equine therapy and equine rescue were new topics for me to explore.
I read a number of wonderful books about equine therapy, in addition to
doing lots of Internet research on various rescue organizations around the
country. But my favorite research came from in-person visits. I spent a couple
of hours at a local area equine therapy barn called Ride for Joy, a wonderful
facility that provides riding programs for those with disabilities, including
one specifically for veterans. And because my granddaughter has been involved
in equine rescues, providing temporary housing to rescued horses before they
find a forever home, I also went to see her and peppered her with lots of
questions.
