About Dog-Gone Dead
Dog-Gone Dead: A Low Country Dog Walker Mystery
Who’d have thought mulch could cause such a stink?
Low Country dog walker Andi Grace Scott is happy to score some free mulch from one of her brother’s landscaping jobs—until she discovers the dead body buried beneath the bark.
Worse, her brother’s landscaping tools were used to commit the murder. Once the police arrest her brother and seem happy to have “caught their man,” Andi Grace has no choice but to track down the real killer. She’ll risk everything to prove her brother’s innocence. Even if it means turning over every rock in town.
If you love small-town coastal life, dogs, and strong heroines, you’ll love Dog-Gone Dead.

Thanks for having me on your blog to share about Dog-Gone Dead. If you love small-town coastal life, dogs, and strong heroines, I believe you’ll love Dog-Gone Dead.
Low Country dog walker Andi Grace Scott is happy to get mulch from one of her brother’s landscaping jobs—until she discovers the dead body buried beneath the bark. Worse, her brother’s landscaping tools were used to commit the murder. Once the police arrest her brother and seem happy to have “caught their man,” Andi Grace has no choice but to track down the real killer.
Andi Grace is expanding her dog-walking business and helping her best friend Juliet Reed open Kennady Plantation B&B. She has responsibilities and commitments to keep, but family comes first. She’ll risk everything to prove her brother’s innocence. Even if it means turning over every rock in town.
When I began to write this series, I chose the coast of South Carolina for the setting because of its history and unique environment. Andi Grace needed a career where she had flexibility to snoop and ask questions to solve mysteries. When I considered walking dogs, it seemed like the perfect career for an amateur sleuth.
My oldest granddaughter, Brooke, and I sat down one day and created different dogs to include in this series. We decided on a German shepherd for Andi Grace because they are loyal and courageous. Brooke and I thought it’d also be fun to include our own dogs, Heinz and Chole in the series. They are Westies and from the same liter, and they make a brief appearance in the books.
Do you have a pet? Do you prefer dogs or cats? Have you ever stayed in a B&B? I love to connect with readers and will check the comments.

June, thanks so much for hosting me today!
ReplyDeleteI currently do not have any pets, but I have stayed in lots of B&Bs. In fact, several years ago, because we returned so frequently to one in Bar Harbor, Maine, I decided to take a photo of the B&B and then use it to cross stitch a piece of framed art. They cried when I presented it to them and immediately hung it in the entry.
ReplyDeleteThank you for being part of the book tour for "Dog-Gone Dead" by Jackie Layton.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed reading the author's guest post and can't wait for the opportunity to read the book.
