EXCERPT:

“Let’s get married.”

Trinity Davis gaped at her best friend. “Omar, you can’t be serious. I just came over to vent, not for you to suggest some harebrained idea.”

Okay, not completely true. She did want a solution to her problem, but not that. Never that. She still had nightmares of standing in white all alone at the altar. Ever since that humiliating event—one that should have been the happiest day of her life—she’d steered clear of romance.

Besides, marriage wouldn’t give her a new job. Wouldn’t provide the health insurance she so desperately—

Okay, so Omar did solve that dilemma with his absurd suggestion.

“Look, Trinity. Bluebonnet is a small town. What are the odds of you finding another job here? Would you want to move away just to find one?”

She frowned, hating his sound logic.

“You can’t mess around with your health. You need insurance.” His lips turned downward, and his goatee shifted with the movement. “Your insulin has to cost a

pretty penny.”

Another strike for logic. “They’re offering me a plan where I’d only have to pay the premiums.” Being a Type 1 diabetic meant going without insulin was not an option. Granted, she’d almost had a heart attack at the price of the insurance.

“And how can you afford that if you have no job?”

It was like Omar could read her mind, which was certainly possible considering they’d been friends for over twenty years. “I don’t know.” She shrugged, trying to keep her emotions at bay. Being laid off had never entered her thoughts as a possibility. “If I want to keep paying rent, something has to give.” She stuffed down a sigh as she mentally calculated her lack of income and growing expenses.

“Exactly.” Omar sat back, giving the porch swing a gentle push. He sipped his sweet tea as if he’d done his job for the day and solved the world’s problems.

JUNE:  Welcome to Reading, Writing & Stitch-Metic, Toni. Congratulations on your debut Love Inspired release! We are pleased to have you as our guest to discuss your new book and a few other topics.

JUNE:  You have written more than a dozen contemporary romance books. Do you have a desire to write in other genres in fiction? Would you ever consider writing for the middle-grade or young adult markets? Are you interested in writing non-fiction? If yes, what subject would you write about?

TONI:  Thank you so much for having me. I would love to write in other genres. I read in all genres in fiction and have story ideas for fantasy, ya, and romantic suspense. I’m not sure if I’ll ever have the time to turn those into a book but maybe one day.

JUNE:  Before you were an author, you served in the United States Air Force. (Thank you for your service to our country, Toni.) Are there any skills you learned while serving in the military which have benefited your career as an indie author?

TONI:  Thank you! Yes, I think developing a great work ethic helps me balance all the spinning plates an indie author has to take care of.

JUNE:  I noticed on your Goodreads Author Page that you wrote poetry while you were in high school. At what age did you make it your goal to become a published author? What tips do you have for someone who is interested in becoming an author?

TONI:  I didn’t actually sit down and try to finish a book from start to finish until I was in my late twenties. I was to insecure and scared to do anything with it when I was in high school. Eventually I outgrew it and took a chance. My tip would be don’t give up!

JUNE:  You have built a successful career as a hybrid author over the past few years. What did you learn during this time period that will assist you as you make the transition to having your work published by the Love Inspired imprint at Harlequin?

TONI:  I really learned how marketing and publishing work and I think that will help me because I’m not brand new to the genre.

JUNE:  I noticed on your website that one of your hobbies is making jewelry. Please share what type of jewelry you make and why you enjoy this hobby.

TONI:  I love making earrings and bracelets the most. It relaxes me. 😀

JUNE:  What is your favorite thing about being an author?

TONI:  Oh that’s so hard! There are so many aspects of being an author that I love. I love that first draft, I love reading reviews from fans or better yet, meeting fans. I love holding that freshly published book in my hands. I love it all except for revisions…definitely revisions, lol.

JUNE:  Thank you for sharing some of your time with us here, Toni. Best wishes for a successful book launch and in your future writing endeavors.
