Welcome to Bushwhack, New Mexico: home to tourists, the great outdoors, and murder...
Camping for spring break should be a piece of cake for outdoor guide Andie Sullivan. She has her best friend and the sheriff tagging along as chaperones for the Wilderness Explorers. It should be all Sβmores and ghost storiesβ¦but then Vivian is attacked and they discover a corpse.
Dang. The campsite went up in smoke.
With everything at stake, Andie must find answers about the attackβshe has to dig deep into a community sheβs called home since birth by asking all the right questions, sometimes at not the right time. As she tracks down clues to a suspect, Andie stumbles on a secretive treasure hunting group in Bushwhack. But one wrong move and Andie could become her own buried treasure.

Excerpt:
She brought them both to a stop outside the hospital room. She pushed the wheelchair against the wall and crouched down in front of Zac. βJust want to check in on Vivian. I sort of called her when you were being loaded into the ambulance and screamed her husband was a crazy, dangerous fool into the phone.β
Zac briefly closed his eyes and inhaled sharply before snapping them open again. He said, βThe shooting is under investigation. You canβt talk details with her.β
She squeezed his hand. βI know. But I know Vivian, and I know sheβs worried. About you. About her husband.β
βShe should be.β
βThe meds are making you grouchy.β She started to stand, though a strong hand caught her forearm, stalling her exit. She looked at Zac, his pained face, and then she felt the heat from his hand on her flesh. βMumβs the word on shooting details.β
He frowned. βIβm grouchy because Walter shot me, and he placed you in danger. Practically put a target on your back. You do realize he told you things that could get him in trouble with the person or persons pulling his strings.β
βBut he didnβt hurt me.β
βHe must not like me more,β Zac said. βBut seriously Iβm worried he might come after you. Iβm not okay with that. Not one bit.β
She patted his knee on her way to a stand. βOkay. You can stay here in the wheelchair and worry all you want. Iβll be right back.β
βYouβre not going to listen to me. Got it.β Zac laughed, then winced from the pain. βFine. Iβll listen to you. But if Iβm not in this exact spot when you return, Iβm over there talking to the cute nurses.β
βI thought you were a reformed bachelor. You gave up Tinder.β
βTalking doesnβt mean Iβm swiping right.β
βYouβre incorrigible.β
βIt makes me charming,β he said.
She shook her head. βGo get you a snack. Itβll help your blood pressure.β
He smiled. βYouβre the boss.β
