ABOUT THE BOOK:
She
refuses to let someone from her past define her future.
But does she really have a choice in the matter?
After being forced to kill an FBI agent gone rogue in self-defense, ISB ranger
Madison Thorn is happy to be working in the fraud and cybercrimes division. At
least numbers don't lie. So she's less than thrilled when she's drawn into a
violent crime investigation in Natchez, Mississippi. She could also do without
being forced to work with former-childhood-enemy-turned-infuriatingly-handsome
park ranger Clayton Bradshaw.
When a woman who looks just like Madison is attacked on the same night
Madison's grandfather is shot, it becomes clear that there is something much
bigger going on . . . and that Madison herself is in danger. Madison
and Clayton will have to work together--and suppress their growing feelings for
one another--if they are to discover the truth before it's too late.

MY REVIEW:
A stunning conclusion to a riveting series . . .
This is the fourth book in the author's 'Natchez Trace Park Rangers' series set on the Natchez Trace in Mississippi. I thoroughly enjoyed the previous three stories, but I was not prepared for the action and emotion this awesome conclusion presented.
The action begins on page one of Chapter One in a tense situation involving Madison and her FBI agent partner, Chad Turner. The scene unfolds in a manner that is completely opposite to what Madison had expected. What transpires on that day informs her life and her job performance for the next four years.
Fast forward four years--National
Park Service Ranger Madison Thorn is a member of the elite
Investigative Services Branch who returns to her grandfather's hometown
in Mississippi to work on a case involving a suspected white-collar crime in a park service office. Clayton
Bradshaw is the southern district supervisor on the Natchez Trace. The
two were acquaintances from many years ago.
Madison's presence in the area kicks off a number of dangerous situations for several people, including herself. This is a complex case with a lot of unknowns for readers to process. I was impressed with the author's ability to weave many situations and characters together to present a powerful story filled with three-dimensional characters, raw emotion, sinister motives, and long-held secrets.
I do not want to reveal any more details about the story, because the element of surprise is essential to a reader's enjoyment of this book. Suffice it to say this plot is filled with a lot of red herrings, villains, secrets, and emotion.
The faith thread is strong and runs throughout the story. One inspiring character struggled with his own personal demons in the past, and is now committed to living a life devoted to God and His teachings. The story is completely clean in language and content.
I highly recommend this book to fans of Christian/clean fiction, Christian/clean romance, Christian/clean romantic suspense, and Christian/clean mysteries.
