An intense, intricate mystery filled with heart-pounding action and a strong faith thread . . .
This octane-fueled launch to the author's newest series, 'Lake City Heroes,' has made me look forward to reading book two! I've read many of this author's novels, but this is—hands down—my favorite story yet.
Lainie Jackson is a Physician Assistant who is trying to put the pieces of her life back together after a brush with death at the hands of her ex-fiancé, Adam Williams. Even with all she's been through, Lainie remains undeterred as she works to solve this mystery without allowing anyone else to get hurt in the process.
Lake City Police Detective James Cross was honorably discharged from the Army Criminal Investigation Division due to his wounds. Now he's back home in Lake City, North Carolina, and he's living with his best friend and partner, Cole, until he decides what he wants to do with his future. His family's dynamics have caused James to withdraw into himself, but when Lainie Johnson becomes someone's target James goes all out to save his sister's best friend.
I enjoyed the discussions between James and Lainie about their faith journeys throughout the story because of their honesty and because of the poignant truths they shared.
The story is completely clean in language and content.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher through the Revell Reads Blogger Program. All of my thoughts and opinions shared here are solely my own.
