About the Book

Can this single mom have it all--
Without losing her heart?"I need the bakery to succeed for my children. They need a safe, permanent home.”
Tam’s gaze flickered with something like concern. “I get it. And I wish you luck,” she said with a heavy exhale.
“Thanks. I think.”
She pointed toward The Gracious Earth and the empty real estate beside it. “Do you see that space there? I’ve wanted to sell my own teas for years, and Petals and Pie is the perfect way. It’s going to be a meeting place— the heart of the town, I hope. It’d make my daughter and me more comfortable, that’s for sure, and now’s the time since the photography studio there closed.”
“Times are tough for everybody.” Patrick’s chest tangled with emotions. A tea and pie room across from a bakery. Surely most people would want to sit down with a cup of tea and relax while they ate rather than dash in and out of an old bakery. He would have to do more than repaint. He’d need it to be irresistible. Patrick realized Tam could see the calculations in his eyes and cleared his throat. “I better head over to the school and get Scarlet,” he mumbled.
“I’m right behind you,” she echoed in a companionable tone as she climbed into her car.
Yes, yes you are.

A moving story about learning to trust after being abandoned by the person who vowed to always be at your side . . .
Single mom, Tam Rochester, is thrilled about expanding her business in Lagrasse, Georgia until she learns some news that sends her mind into chaos. Single dad, Patrick Butler, is anxious to get his newly-purchased bakery up and running. When he gets the cold shoulder from the pretty shop owner across the street, he is mystified as to why she's reacting to him in such a negative way.
Tam's tween daughter, Piper, is well-adjusted and she excels in her academic studies. Patrick's twelve-year-old daughter, Scarlet, has been forced to live through a childhood filled with experiences no child should have to witness or encounter. She excels at art—a creative outlet that gives this young girl a feeling of accomplishment. Scarlet is slowly learning how to navigate a life under her father's caring guidance, but she has a lot to learn about trusting people and building friendships. Scarlet's biological brother, Jax, is an eight-month-old ball of loveable energy who brings joy to his sister, his adopted dad, and just about everyone he counters.
After some tense moments based on Tam's competitive drive and fears of how Patrick's bakery may affect her new shop's success, she has a change of heart. The two begin to assist each other in various ways which allows them to spend some positive time getting to know each other. Tam reaches out to both of Patrick's children which is a great relief to their father because he's already accepted that his children need a nurturing woman in their lives.
