Welcome to the Blog Tour for Her Surprise Hometown Match by Tara Randel, hosted by JustRead Publicity Tours!
Title: Her Surprise Hometown Match “So, what does anyone do for fun around here?”
“Define fun.”
Ty tilted his head. “If I have to explain, you probably don’t know how to do it.”
“I have fun,”Juliette insisted.
Wait. She did, didn’t she?Sure, she’d been working steadily since returning to Golden after college, but she did stuff.
“What’s your idea of fun?” he challenged.
“Working out.”
“That’s a necessity. Try again.”
“I hang out with my sister. Sometimes go horseback riding.” Although as she thought about it, even that had been a while ago.
“Okay. Do you travel?”
“No.”
“Take a vacation?”
“No.”
“I heard there’s a nice lake in Golden. Do you go boating? Swimming?”
“No.”
He sent her a pitying glance. “You need to shake things up in your life.”
“And I suppose you think you can show me how?”
His grin widened and his eyes sparkled, as if he was thinking, Challenge accepted.
Good grief.
Here was the problem. In a matter of two days, Ty had disturbed her constant, solid life. And to her utter dismay, she found him entertaining. Unexpected. A shake-up she needed.
This is the second book I've read from the author's 'The Golden Matchmakers Club,' so many of the supporting characters were familiar to me. The story is set in the small Georgia mountain town of Golden.
Juliette Bishop is an occupational therapist who works at a rehabilitation facility in Golden. She is an enthusiastic advocate for the special needs children and adults in town, and she will do whatever she needs to do to make sure their voices are heard by the decision-makers in town. She is a take-charge woman whose self-worth is tarnished by something in her past.
Ty Pendergrass is a former rodeo cowboy with a rebellious attitude who can be charming when he wants to be. He's recently moved back to Golden to help his family with their newly-purchased, problem-ridden farm. His family is counting on Ty to remain committed to and involved in the restoration of the farm property so they can take care of his brother who needs full-time care.
The Golden Matchmakers Club is a group of senior residents from the town who work together to facilitate matches of local young people. They have a good success rate; and when they have a request to focus their efforts on the two lead characters, they are willing to do what it takes to make the match successful. Their antics are amusing and goodhearted for the most part.
The character who had the biggest impact on this story for me personally was Juliette's younger sister, Ivy. This twenty-five-year old woman is living with Asperger's Syndrome and she is a positive force in the Bishop family. It was satisfying to watch Ivy blossom as she develops and matures into a confident woman who learns to navigate life successfully by developing a strong subset of coping skills.
There are many challenges along the path to romance for Ty and Juliette in this story as readers are led through a maze of mishaps and misunderstandings. The book is completely clean in language and content.
I received a copy of this novel from the author through JustRead Publicity Tours. All of my thoughts and opinions shared here are solely my own.

Welcome to the Blog + Review Tour for Beyond the Gray Mountains by Tricia Goyer, hosted by JustRead Publicity Tours!
π♥️π♥️π♥️π♥️π♥️
Title: Beyond the Gray Mountains Marianna Sommer always dreamed of a simple Amish wedding, but there’s nothing simple about marrying rock star Ben Stone. She loves him—but what about her traditions? Worse, suddenly Ben has questions—the kind that have him putting their wedding on hold.
Ben loves Marianna, but he has regrets—and fears—that are suddenly getting in the way of his happy ending. He doubts he’s going to “hear from God” in the high mountains like Marianna’s father suggests. But sure, he’ll go…Ben couldn’t help himself. He’d been gone for weeks and missed Marianna like crazy. He stood on the dirt road outside her family’s house. It was a new moon, which wasn’t visible in the night sky. Instead, the stars sparkled like fistfuls of diamonds tossed on a black velvet fabric.
Shifting from side to side and kicking up dirt and gravel from the road, Ben contemplated if he should sneak to her window just to see her beautiful face, even for ten minutes. The house looked quiet, and he guessed that the rest of her family had already fallen asleep. But didn’t she say she often stayed up to read or write in her journal? Seeing the joy on her face was worth the risk when she realized he’d come home a day early.
He slowly walked toward the house by the light from his cell phone, realizing for the first time how loud walking on pine cones could be. Ben strained to see if there was any sign of lantern or candlelight—evidence that she was awake. Hopefully, Trapper wouldn’t hear him and bark, waking everyone up.
Step by step, he made his way to the side of the house toward her downstairs bedroom window. He felt like a teenager again, parking his truck down the road to sneak into his girlfriend’s house. Yet this wasn’t just a girlfriend. This was his fiancΓ©e, soon to be his wife. His smile widened even as he hunched down under the window. He was about to reach his hand to tap on the window, but his cell phone chimed its familiar tune. Ben jumped and stood erect. He’d forgotten to put his phone on silent, and at the moment, the chiming sounded as loud as a shotgun going off in the night.
Ben quickly shut off the ringing and stood as still as possible.
“Marianna.” His voice was just louder than a whisper, but even through the closed curtains he could see no light was on. She must be fast asleep. Trapper too. He tapped the window as softly as he could. No response.
He considered tapping louder, but Ben knew that would wake Trapper. He’d just have to content himself with seeing Marianna’s beautiful face tonight in his dreams instead of in person.
